How you living? And I don’t mean the cordial how you doing that we all start emails and conversations with. But fa real how are you feeling?

I know this time is super tough for many people for a whole host of reasons, and it seems like December 2023 is the most reflective I’ve remembered in a while. 

One of the things I’ve learned to appreciate in my stillness (see the last blog for more on that) is acceptance. Accepting exactly where you are, how you feel, what you did, what you didn’t do, etc. It can be a strange concept because some people feel like acceptance = complacency, but in my opinion, it doesn’t. In fact, it’s the first step in shifting the tide toward what you want. 

So if you think about it, if we deny that we’re sad or hungry or tired, how can we ever start working toward truly receiving joy, nourishment, and rest? You know what I mean? Sure there are patches, and things we do to create temporary feelings of resolution, but is that what you want?

Saying this to say that, as we enter into 2024, most of us are reflecting, setting goals, making plans, you know - the whole New Year’s Resolution run, and I’m here for it! I’d like to encourage you to add 1 more step to your resolution process. 

Scan your life, mind, body, heart, spirit, career - all the things and take an honest inventory of the good, the bad, and the ugly. Breathe as much and for as long as you need to, to process all the emotions that may arise.

Then regardless of how you feel about it, decide to accept all of it! 

Accept it for what it is, because it really is what it is. Nothing about the past can be changed, so there’s no use in denying it. The true magic happens when you decide what you’re going to do next; and then take the necessary action toward experiencing what you desire.
